Greece: Blue is not a color, it is a frontline.
The Mediterranean is not a swimming pool, it is a wounded organism. Together with Lollo Marittimo, we’ll dive beneath the surface of the Saronic Gulf—not in search of the perfect photo, but to understand how the heart of a sea beats when it is warming faster than any other. A slow journey for those who don’t just want to see Greece, but want to learn how to protect it.
Between classical ruins and modern resistance. More than a trip, this is a field analysis between the cradle of civilization and the frontline of the climate crisis. From the urban density of Athens to the islands of the Saronic Gulf, we will explore the Mediterranean not as a postcard, but as a living organism struggling to breathe. Sailing and walking at 5 km/h, we will decode the past to understand the present, turning snorkeling and kayaking into tools for critical observation and active marine biology.
We won't be spectators, but citizens of the sea: between seabed cleaning activities and encounters with those protecting sea turtles, we’ll discover a Greece that resists homogenization. And in authentic tavernas, between a pita and a toast with ouzo, we’ll support the real economy of those who resist - creating an experience where the pleasure of travel becomes a conscious act of care and responsibility.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Between myth and sea: Decoding the capital
We explore Athens—from the Agora to the Olympic Stadium—reading the Acropolis through the lens of the climate crisis. We walk through the neighborhoods of Plaka and Psirri, symbols of resistance to gentrification, before sailing towards Aegina and the authentic face of the Aegean. - Sea and biodiversity: Political action in blue
Snorkeling and kayaking combined with citizen science activities. Visit to the Archelon Sea Turtle Rescue Center and active participation in beach and seabed cleaning. Marine biology becomes a tool for active citizenship. - Flavors and encounters: The economy of resistanceSlow conviviality aboard a sailing boat and in local tavernas. We support the Greek real economy through food, meeting those who resist tourism homogenization to understand the balance between humans, the sea, and economic crises.
TRIP PURPOSE
This journey stems from the desire to reconnect with the sea, with its millennia-old history, and with what it still teaches us today. In an era where oceans are suffocating with plastic and the Mediterranean is turning into an alien ecosystem, choosing to explore consciously is not a luxury - it is an act of care.
We will go to Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, to listen to the stories the sea has told for centuries - but with a new awareness: observing the life that pulses beneath the surface means understanding how fragile it is. Together with Lollo, we will discover how marine biology and local gastronomy are political acts that intertwine pleasure and responsibility.
This journey is an invitation to experience the sea not as a backdrop for our holidays, but as the protagonist of our future. Every dive is an act of discovery, every reflection a small gesture of change.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - Welcome to Athens (Sunday)
Arrival is scheduled by dinner time.
Day 2 - Athens (Monday)
After breakfast, we begin exploring Athens on foot: Syntagma Square, the Monastiraki markets, lively Psirri, and the romantic streets of Plaka. We will stop for lunch… The day will end in a local taverna with our first toast of ouzo and warm pita.
Day 3 - Sea and turtles (Tuesday)
The morning will be dedicated to relaxation on an urban beach in Athens. A first dive into the Aegean Sea and some well-deserved calm. After lunch in a traditional taverna, we will begin our first experience at the Archelon Sea Turtle Rescue Center: we will meet the volunteers, visit the care tanks, and start understanding the real impact of their (and our) work. How about ending the day with a scenic aperitif?
Day 4 - Discovering Aegina (Wednesday)
We leave Athens and sail to the island of Aegina, a small gem untouched by mass tourism. After checking into our local hotel, we relax on the island’s beaches, among pine trees, rocks, and crystal-clear waters. Dinner will feature traditional dishes and local music.
Day 5 - Islands from the sea (Thursday)
Today we set sail for a sailing excursion among the Saronic Islands: remote bays, snorkeling, and the wind telling us the story of these waters. A slow day filled with light and salt. Back in Aegina, the evening is free to explore the island or simply gaze at the stars.
Day 6 - Return with gratitude (Friday)
Final breakfast by the sea. A ferry will take us back to Athens, where we may meet the BlueBed team and—weather permitting—take part in a seabed cleaning activity, followed by a reflection session on marine protection and environmental volunteering.
Day 7 - Farewell and return (Saturday)
The journey ends around lunchtime, with a deeper awareness in our hearts—and perhaps a grain of sand still in our hair.

How do I know if a trip is confirmed?

We use a simple classification to inform you about the availability status of each trip:
"To Be Confirmed": the trip hasn't received any bookings yet but is active.
"Group Creation": the trip has received some bookings and spots are filling up. The trip is active.
"Confirmed": the trip is confirmed and only a few spots are left.
"Sold Out": tickets for that specific trip date are sold out.
"Closed": the trip is no longer active.
What is the average age of participants? Are there age limits?

Participants are generally between 22 and 45 years old, with an average age of 30-35. There are no age limits: we accept minors (with legal guardian consent) and people over 45. However, consider the type of trip, as some activities may require good physical condition.
Is the flight to the destination included in the trip?
