Beyond the Sea: upstream in Greece
This trip is for those who want to defend marine biodiversity.
A journey through wild islands and sea turtles fighting every day to survive. But that’s not all: between ancient cities and local culture, there will also be time for a refreshing swim and a sailboat ride. But first, let’s do something that matters. :)
HIGHLIGHTS
- Local and Itinerant Greece
We’ll explore Athens with fresh eyes – through lived-in neighborhoods, active archaeology, and authentic food. Then we’ll leave the chaos behind to reach Agistri, a lesser-known island where time slows down and the sea is still clear and free. - Volunteering and Marine Conservation
One day will be dedicated to supporting Archelon’s sea turtle rescue center, where we’ll discover (and join!) the work of volunteers: caring for turtles, cleaning tanks, research, and awareness-raising. It’s a chance to put your hands (and heart) where it truly matters. - Sailing, ouzo, and unexpected islands
We’ll glide through the Saronic Islands by sailboat, swim in hidden coves, and dine with our feet in the sand. We’ll experience the side of Greece that only reveals itself when you slow down and let the sea guide you.
Note: the trip will be conducted in Italian. Some activities with the Archelon team will be held in English.

TRIP PURPOSE
A trip that’s also a mission.
With this itinerary, we want to tune into nature, support Archelon’s decades-long efforts to protect sea turtles, and experience Greece in a way that’s the opposite of rushed, mass tourism. We do this by actively contributing to biodiversity conservation and rediscovering a more conscious and respectful relationship with the Mediterranean.
This journey is a gentle act of disobedience against mass tourism: we’ll sleep, eat, and move slowly - walking alongside those who fight every day for the planet’s future, listening to the nature that still resists and regenerates.
This trip was designed based on these principles:
Non-Profit Engagement
Support for the Local Economy
Education for Sustainability

ITINERARY
Day 1 – Welcome to Athens
Arrival is expected around lunchtime. Once we land in the Greek capital, we’ll head straight to our accommodation in the heart of the city. After check-in, we’ll start discovering Athens together on foot — from Syntagma Square and the Monastiraki flea markets, to the vibrant Psirri district and the romantic streets of Plaka. We’ll end the day in a local taverna with our first toast: ouzo and warm pita.
Day 2 – Sea & TurtlesThe morning is all about relaxing at one of Athens’ urban beaches — our first dip in the Aegean Sea and a well-deserved moment of calm We’ll have lunch in a traditional taverna before diving into our first experience at the Archelon Sea Turtle Rescue Center. We’ll meet the volunteers, visit the recovery tanks, and begin to understand the real impact of their (and our) work. We’ll wrap up the day with a panoramic aperitivo — sounds good?
Day 3 – Discovering Aegina
We’ll leave Athens and sail toward the island of Aegina, a hidden gem untouched by mass tourism. After checking into our local accommodation, we’ll relax on the island’s beaches — surrounded by pines, rocks, and crystal-clear water. In the evening, we’ll dine on traditional dishes with local music setting the tone.
Day 4 – The Islands by SeaToday we set sail for a full-day sailing excursion among the Saronic Islands. We’ll discover secluded bays, snorkel in transparent waters, and let the wind whisper stories of these ancient coasts. A slow day filled with light and salt. Back in Aegina, the evening will be free — perfect for a walk under the stars.
Day 5 – Returning with Gratitude
One last breakfast by the sea. A ferry will bring us back to Athens, where you can choose whether to head to the airport or extend your stay independently. The journey will officially end around lunchtime — with a little more awareness in our hearts and maybe a grain of sand still in our hair.

How do I know if a trip is confirmed?

We use a simple classification to inform you about the availability status of each trip:
"To Be Confirmed": the trip hasn't received any bookings yet but is active.
"Group Creation": the trip has received some bookings and spots are filling up. The trip is active.
"Confirmed": the trip is confirmed and only a few spots are left.
"Sold Out": tickets for that specific trip date are sold out.
"Closed": the trip is no longer active.
What is the average age of participants? Are there age limits?

Participants are generally between 22 and 45 years old, with an average age of 30-35. There are no age limits: we accept minors (with legal guardian consent) and people over 45. However, consider the type of trip, as some activities may require good physical condition.
What are the exact arrival and departure times?

Our trips typically start around lunchtime or early afternoon, with departures in the same timeframe. However, times may vary depending on the destination. We remain flexible so everyone can plan accordingly. If you arrive late or need to leave early, just let us know in advance.
